Some people are just born funny. Some people are just born deaf. Mike Murray beat all the odds and was born both funny and deaf.

Murray had a double cochlear implant when he was 40 years old, allowing him to hear for the first time. As he took to the hearing world, he was able to experience things he could never even have dreamed of.

Im 2008, Murray decided to try his hand at comedy, enrolling in a comedy boot camp. Right away, he knew he was comfortable on the stage, and that comedy would take over his life.

In a short time span, Murray, now known as “The Deaf Comic” quickly made a name for himself by placing in two major Rhode Island contests: the “Rhode Island Comedy Festival” with over 100 competing comics (taking 2nd place); and “Catch a ‘New’ Rising Star” with over 120 comedic contestants (taking 3rd place) – all within his first 4-months of stand-up.
