Kennedy Richard began his comedy career during his high school years of the late 70's. His teachers would often give him accolades, also known as "detentions". In 1984, Kennedy began weekly trips into Boston and hitting open-mic nights whenever he could. After a few years of this, Kennedy put his comedy career on hold to get married, start a family, and begin his career in law enforcement. 19 years later, after the kids have grown and gone on to college, Kennedy spoke with his wife and they decided it was time for him to come out and "play" again.
Kennedy first entered a "New Hampshire's Best Comic" competition and was a top 5 finalist. Shaking the rust off, he started once again hitting open-mic nights and getting his name back out to the comedy world. Kennedy has performed with the likes of "America's Got Talent" runner-up, Tom Cotter and has also opened for Boston comedy legend, Steve Sweeney.
Kennedy's type of humor has been compared to the likes of Denis Leary. He claims that he was always a "smart-ass" in school, but was able to refine his skill due to dealing with people at their absolute worse during his 20-plus years of law enforcement. He says when people find out he has been a detective for over 15 years, they always want to know about some of the interesting/strange cases that he has worked. Because of this, Kennedy has just recently started incorporating some of his police stories into his routine.
If you're in the mood for sharp, biting, smart-alecky (yes, I made that up) humor.....you'll have to come out to see one of Kennedy Richard's performances. His constant targets are his wife and kids, his job, people's general behavior and yes, Miley Cyrus.
